Apply for funding
Fight for Sight is inviting applications for its 2007 grants
programme in which it anticipates awarding total grants
of up to £1.5 million.
Fight for Sight (the British Eye Research Foundation) is the leading national charity dedicated to funding research into
the causes, diagnosis and prevention of blindness and the treatment of eye disease.
Fight for Sight Clinical Fellowships
Applications are invited for the award of Clinical Fellowships
of up to £170,000 each to start in October 2007. These
awards are open to medical, nursing and allied health
professional graduates (including optometrists and
orthoptists) and will lead to the presentation of a PhD over
three years (or exceptionally an MD over two years).
Fight for Sight PhD Studentships
Applications are invited from PhD supervisors for
Studentships of up to £93,000 to support the training of
graduate students for three years from October 2007.
Students may be selected following the award.
Fight for Sight Project Grants
Applications are invited for the award of Research Project
Grants of up to £150,000 for three years, or pro rata for
projects of shorter duration, to start from August 2007.
For the 2007 programme most grants awarded will be
conditional upon there being an expected effective outcome
which will be of significant or potential benefit to people
experiencing eye disease. Some grants will be funded where
research is at an early stage but, in the judgment of the
grants allocation panel, is potentially significant. Most of
Fight for Sight’s grant money is allocated to research teams
throughout the UK, but the charity may fund UK based
teams undertaking research in other parts of the world.
Applications for PhD Studentships and Project Grants are
initially by Abstract to be received not later than 5.00pm on
30 November 2006. For shortlisted applicants the deadline
for the receipt of full submissions will be 5.00pm on 22
January 2007.
For Clinical Fellowships full applications are invited to be
received not later than 5.00pm on 22 January 2007.
Please note that it is essential that people applying for a PhD Studentship or a Project Grant fill in the Abstract initially.
